| If You Thought Your Printer Cartridges Are Getting Smaller... Your Right! |
Have you noticed that your HP and Canon inkjet
cartridges are just not lasting like they used to? We really found this out with
the older HP 21 cartridges and now that newer HP 901’s will be having you back to the store even more frequently.
The difference from one cartridge to another might
be allow us to fill anywhere from only 10ml to up to 20 ml depending on the
individual cartridges. Although the cartridges look the same outside, there are
new internal walls and smaller sponges to hold the ink. This decreases the ink
capacity of the cartridges. This Business Insider article linked here http://read.bi/JOgp1O (they do
talk about (European cartridge numbers - 301 is our 901. 350 is our 901XL) talks about this more
In addition to smaller cartridges, Lexmark and
Epson are using chip technology to prevent their customers from refilling their
cartridges.
Between HP's and Canon’s smaller cartridges and
Lexmark’s and Epson’s chips, our best printer recommendations for value and environmental
friendliness for our inkjet customers, is to look for printers that use single
colour cartridges. Brother, Canon and HP all make printers which use these.
The advantages to single colour cartridges are:
More Ink: These
cartridges usually hold more ink than the black/tri-colour type.
Less waste: In
a tri-colour cartridge once one colour is empty the others are wasted.
Re-usability:
As these cartridges do not have the
print head built into the cartridge they tend to last several times longer than
those which do.
